Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 190 East at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, according to the Texas Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation shows that a 2015 Dodge pickup was westbound on Hwy. 190 about five miles east of Livingston when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2003 Cadillac head-on, causing the Cadillac to catch fire and burn.
The driver of the pickup was identified as Alton Kimes, 40, of Livingston. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Polk County Justice of the Peace, said Sgt. David Hendry, communications officers for Texas DPS in Lufkin.
A passenger in Kimes’ vehicle, Naomi Moody, 40, of Livingston was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston, and then transferred to Conroe Regional Medical Center by helicopter.
The driver of the Cadillac was also pronounced dead at the scene as well. Investigators continue to work to identify the driver.
