Texas Rangers arrested Onalaska Police Lt. Gabrel Phillip Moore, 43, on a charge of official oppression, according to records at the Polk County Jail.
Rangers began their investigation in May, according to DPS spokesman Sgt. David Hendry.
Investigators believe Moore may have committed similar crimes in other areas as well.

Moore worked at various police agencies in Polk, Montgomery, Chambers, and Harris Counties since 2002.
Moore was booked into jail at 2:14 p.m. Thursday.
Sheriff Kenneth Hammack said the arrest was made by Texas Rangers and that he had not seen the probable cause affidavit as of 5 p.m.
Onalaska Mayor Chip Choate said he was aware
of the arrest, but he could not comment due to an ongoing investigation.
Bail had not been set as of press time.
