LIVINGSTON — Polk County Sheriff’s deputies and troopers with the Texas Highway Patrol responded to the emergency department at CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston at about 1 p.m. Saturday after hospital staff reported receiving a patient that had suffered a single gunshot wound.
The patient, Oscar Flores-Ruiz, arrived at the hospital by personal vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
PCSO detectives also went to the home off Mangum Road where the shooting occurred.
Flores was transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston by Life Flight helicopter. He died from that injury the next day, according to a statement released by Sheriff Kenneth Hammack.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy Monday, Jan. 28 and notified detectives of their findings, Hammack said.
Detectives have interviewed several witnesses in addition to processing the shooting scene and recovering evidence. Some of that evidence was taken to the medical examiner’s office to assist in their death investigation.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Lt. Craig Finegan at (936) 329-9028.
